Fresh Thinking for Forgotten Food
Join Miss Sallie from Miss SalliesCuisine for this FREE 4 part program on food waste . Our aim is to raise awareness of the global food waste challenge and promote positive ways in which we can all make a real impact at home by becoming mindful and creative .
With a series of 4 workshops we want the community to think about how we can cook and use the foods we often throw away. Its about being creative with left overs and using the whole food where possible.
Each workshop will include cooking a recipe , tips and hacks about keeping food for longer, batch cooking, preserving and rebooting leftovers.
Session 1 The problem of waste and what we can do. Looking at composting and worm farms.
Session 2 Food safety and storage of food. Looking at the correct way to store foods in our fridges/freezers. Ideas for storage.
Session 3 Beeswax wraps and reducing plastic
Session 4 Look at different ways to re-use the top 5 foods wasted in Australia.
The first session starts on Thursday 19th November at 6:30pm.
