Miss Sallie makes her lemon meringue tarts from home-grown lemons. They are taken from a tree planted by her dad more than fifteen years ago. He tended that tree for a long time, but it never fruited. The year following his passing the tree was full of lemons and its abundant harvest continues to this day.
Miss Sallie uses two lemons to get a beautiful zingy tasting lemon curd. She makes her own short crust pastry, topping the filling with toasted Italian meringue whipped to silky perfection from fresh egg whites and sugar syrup. These lemon meringue tarts are approximately nine centimetres in diameter, but larger tarts can be made to order. Give us a call.
